Default Welcome To The Club

Had my V-10 since Mar 1996 and love it. It's an awsome truck, I just need more traction. Currently running 285X16's full mud tires and sometimes need more.

Any one ever hear of either a exhaust leak at the manifold or a muffler thats just about gone causing a vibration when giving it throttle? or a combination of both. Thats what im dealing with now.

Anyone had trouble with eng oil leaking past the fill cap on the valve cover on thier v-10? I got that problem now. Also the valve cover gasket might be bad, cant tell if its one or the other. Oil on the exhaust manifold is not good. I got 40psi on the stock gauge when eng is at normal oper temp. I am sitting at 250,000 miles on the od. lol....Yall got any ideas?? Thanks, Bfoot.

Mine started doing the same thing at about 165k. It's the valve cover gasket. It's a steel backed, rubber coated deal and the rubber starts to shrink and pull away from the steel backing.

Got replacements at Advance Auto, but only replaced the drivers side so far. The passenger side requires the upper intake to be removed, so it's gonna have to wait until spring.

Ok, but I still have oil seeping past the oil filler cap. Got a replacement cap from advanceauto w/new o-ring, do I have another problem in the motor?? I understand that this motor has no pvc valve, just a 'crankcase ventilation orifice', do you know where that is and how to diagnose andorfix it?? Thanks, Bfoot.

As for the v10 club count me in as number 4. I have a 98 quad cab 2500 with a v10 and love it. lots of pulling power. Still has more torque than the new Hemi. I love it

Seems to be more members than I have fingers. Wife won't let me take the boots off to use my toes.

Just picked up a 99 reg cab, long bed with capper, with 100,000 miles she's barely broke in. In her previous life she had a 5th wheeler on her. The cap was from FL so she didn't live all her life up north.

I'm removing the fiberglass running board/trim. They have been a cancer trap and looks like I might have to replace cab corners and rockers along with the rear quarter sections.

Will be towing a 7000# dive boat & trailer this summer. A friend said his 2wd V10 was getting 16-18mpg city and 20's on hwy. Think he has poor eye sight. I've gotta get a look at this truck!

Most likely the CAT. The V-10's go through them regularly. They crack and start to rattle. Considering I didn't have O2 sensors after the CAT I just gutted the CAT out.

I think your friend is full of chit!

Does anyone else have a dead spot in the 55-70 mph range? Has anyone done the PCM update to "supposably" fix the issue. I feel I should have a lot more power then I actually do ya know?
