I'm new here and could use a little help!
Hello, I have just gotten a 2004 Dodge SRT-4, I have 23,000 miles on it and have a few questions.
1. The car is stock and I have just put on the Mopar blue plate BOV, what is normal boost pressure in each gear?
2. Are there any problems or things I should look at as problems for these cars?
3. I seem to have only 5-7 pounds of boost in first gear, is this normal?
I seem to have about 13-15 pounds in the rest of the gears.
Thanks for the help!

Boost can be affected by a lot of things with the weather just being the tip of the iceberg and what mods have been put on your car. For the most part, the SRT-4 is no more prone to problems than any other car, but you have to take care of it. Synthetic oil at oil changes, 11-12K tranny fluid changes, frequent checking of plugs and wires, checking for boost leaks, etc. The TPS has been a problem for some folks, also, the plastic lens on the headlights cracked on several SRT-4s (mine included).

Thanks for the info dusty, I very much appreciate your input in the matters at hand...
I still would like to know if there is a "normal" boost level per gear?

Not in first gear, it's kept low for traction reasons. Otherwise, like I said, it will depend on the weather, engine temp, gasoline used, modsetc. It usually averages around 16 psi for me.....assuming one of my sensors or hoses hasn't popped off......

This will give you a pretty good overview of your car/turbo/engine.

Thanks for the info, I do knowthat I have not have my trans. fluid changed yet, Is it hard to do, and how time consuming is it? I'm at 23,000 miles and it has never been done!

About 3 quarts of Mopar ATF-4 and a bottle of Mopar friction modifier and you should be set. Lots of folks do it own their own, depends on what sort of setup you have access to........

it takes about as long as changing ur oil or less. and u can find the mopar atf+4 fluid it requires at walmart, u will need about 3 quarts because it holds around 2.5quarts. You have to take out the rubber fill plug first and then take out the allen type drain plug on the bottom of the tranny and let it drain, then screw it back in and add about 2.5 quarts of the atf+4. U will also need to get a special friction modifieradditive for the lsdand put in 4oz of that as well with the 2.5 quarts ofmopar atf+4 fluid, i think u can get the additive from a dodge dealership.
