I know this post is old but since everyone is still replying i figured i might shed some light on the topic....A couple days ago(day after christmas) i was pulling out of my housing developement and what do i see, A 05 red Evo coming my way...No way what a christmas present i get to race a Evo...So i pull out in the lane next to him and go figure we catch the light together....

srt:Hey nice car man..
Evo:Yeah you too(him and his buddy snicker)
Evo:Is that thing fast??
Srt:Its pretty much stock but its quick for a neon
Evo:Well lets see what i gots!!

So im like **** this evo is about to just kick my *** from this light and its gonna be all over,the light turns green and i jumped out on him like he was standing still,I rode it wide open to 4th gear and let off,the Evo was probably 3 to 4 cars behind...So im just cruising in 5th and they pull up next to me again
Evoamn man that thing is fast
Srt:Its not bad,that car should beat me though
Evo:Yeah my buddy just bought it and he doesn't really know how to drive it
Srt:Yeah i can tell
Evo:Lets get it from a 30 roll
Srt:Sure, but i will tell you hes not gonna pull me
Evo:I know i can get you this time

So were off, walked away again!!!No way something isn't right...Well i think i hurt this kids feelings cause we raced probably about 7 times and he only got me once(cause he jumped before me)..So he followed me into a parking lot cause he didn't believe it was stock....After a couple of mins of talking i decided to ask what he paid for the beast....$35 large all said and done,but the funny thing about it is he said he never even heard of the srt4 and if he would of known the price and performance he would of never bought the evo...So another thumbs up for the lil NEON...[sm=smiley20.gif]

 

I will NEVER get the infactuation with an Evo. If you want a performance car, and you don't have the bank to pay, this is your ticket. This little car is a beast.

The Evo doesn't look like a vette. It is four doors with a wing....what does that remind you of? If I had not known about the SRT and paid the 35 g's for an Evo and THEN learned about the neon, I would be sick. If both cars were nearly the same money, I'd chose the Evo.

Funny,,,almost all racing is done from a roll. The Evo may be quicker off the line because of the all wheel drive, but how few of times does that really benefit you. And,,,,everyone goes on and on about how they are in the twisties. From most of the stuff that I have read, this little car of ours, with a few suspension mods, can hang right with it.

There are so many things that I like about our cars.

 

The 93-97 Z28 are running high 13s, I would know because I own 3 Z28. I have a 82 94 94 one 94 has the LS1 motor swap. Z28 from 93 on are running 13s and nothing less. So don't put down Z28. My srt 4 will kill my Z28s.

Okay on public highway, I blasted away from the front and got lead. I got lead up to 80-90 and slowed down to let some catch up because of traffic slowing them down. Mind you this is 6:45 in the morning, rush hour going the other way. Okay when I slowed down the Chysler pasted than the Jetta, I jumpped in than in front of the Civic, because it wasn't keeping up, but was trying. Okay now I am behind the Jetta and the 300 keeping abnormal pace, because the Jetta and the 300 are fighting head to head for a pass, I'm in the middle of both lanes behind them thinking whom am I going to pass. The 300 takes the Jetta and so do I. I am on the 300s butt for like 1 mile 1/2 passing the Jetta. I could not pass the 300, but I was the fly on it's butt. I mean right on it's butt to the next stop light on the parkway. We were going 130+ easy. I was in 5th gear and my AEM intake started blaring. I made Neon dust that day, loved it. I thought, If I had a Charger this F'er would be toast. But I kept up with that Chrysler 300 with a 4 bannger, leaving a Jetta and a Civic in the dust. I thought to myself, why are they going to kill the Neon? Especialy the R/T, the "Race Tuned" Stupid Dodge! I kept up with a 250+ HP V8 with a 4 bangger, and they are cutting that line off. What blokes!

 

ACTUALLY A STOCK Z-28 IN ANY NEWER YEAR BY ALMOST EVERY TEST IS A 13.7 NOT A 13.1 SO I STILL DONT BELIEVE THE 12

 

i ran a 2003 honda civic si (egg shaped one) that was turbo. i spanked him
a corrado turboed spanked, a 2005 pontiac gto i ran a 14.0 and he ran a 14.16 1/4 mile time. the track was 167 degrees that day.
and a integra turbo plus many more!!!!

 

Well Lets See.........

1. Volkswagon R32. Started on a 45mph roll on the highway. About 4 times we went at it. Everytime I pulled off and never looked back. But I didn't leave him. He just hovered back there lol.

2. G35 Coupe. Fun Race. For anyone that knows the trenton area. Rt. 129 into Rt. 29. There's 4 curves before a 4 mile straightaway. From Redlight, pulled on me bout half a car lenght, crawled my way back up. Doing about 80mph before the turns, coming out of the turns we were doin about 110 and i was a car length ahead, the highway splits one way to camden the other to the shore...before the split we were about head to head and split off, no clear winner....but i tell you what just hearing those pipes on those cars are just sweet. Cant wait for the skyline to hit the states lol

 

Since I started this thread, we have put my Buddies Camaro SS (02) thru the ropes with the G-timer. He has a GM SLP air box, a chip, and some exhaust
work, and I think pulleys too.

His personal best was 12.83 @ 112.4 MPH. His 60' times really suck bad, but his car runs the back half of the 1320 like an animal.

I hate him now.[sm=sigh.gif]

 

now i can believe that because the ss stock was supposed to run a 13.5 and with those modifications you could easily cut of .7-.9 i would think but the z28 would still be at about 13.00 because its stock time is 13.7-13.8 by book

 

Since I last posted my friend Jonny with a stock 04 wanted to have a run at it on the highway. I bounced on at 40mph in 3rd, slammed it and short-shifted my way to 4th gear.....short-shifted to 5th and im now up near 125...he's gone.

Then I brake to slow down and he pulls up alongside of me. I downshift to 3rd and let the 3" pop a bit. He downshifts to third and takes off gaining a car almost a car and a half on me since he took off before I even realized he was going to. So I romp on it....and peace out by the end of 3rd gear hes 3 cars behind and falling.

Funny though....I only have S1 and a 3" exhaust. Tee hee hee
