I have the same story here. I had a POS jetta which might I add I hated. When my buddies and I were looking around and I said SRT-4 they were like "WHAT... You want a NEON." Well regardless I bought one and then took them for a ride. They changed there minds very quickly. Its a great car and no matter what car you buy thats quick. You will get some evil eyes when driving. It kinda makes me feel better when I see those. Reminds me "oh yeah thats right. My car is awsome." Good luck with your purchase.

 

lol i hate it when ppl say.. "it's just neon"...then i say...ok open ur mouth after we run...as always i come out at the top..after they say..can i test drive it??..hahah.NO but ill take you crusin in it..fools...just stfu and let engines talk!! you'll ove the little beast..it'll eat you up alive if ur not prepared..hehehe[8D]

 

i got hated on for having a civic when i had it,and then i got hated on when i traded it in for the SRT.everyone has their own opinions of what the best is.but other than when i first bought it i have never had anyone hate on it,besides on other forums.theydo try and race me ALL the time and that gets annoying.other than that everything is great.

 

Thanks for all the replies... It sounds just about how I thought it was... Don't get me wrong, I'm not worried about what some others might think of it, that nonesense is for high school kids... I just wanted to know if the "hatred" was really that bad. But from the sounds of it, it seems like it's just normal rivalry type hate/envy due to what it is. I know plenty of Chevy guys that despise Mustangs/Fords, and plenty of the the opposit. I've always caught light sh*t talking I guess you could say because I'm a Mopar guy and around everyone I've ever hung around I've always been the only one.

It'll just be a big change for me I guess. I've only even driven a car a handfull of times lol... Which is somewhat weird to think about (I"m 22 btw). But like I said I think the SRT4 is awesome, and it's what I want. My first choice would be a rwd V8 two door though I have to say, but Dodge makes no such thing, and I would love a Charger SRT or even just a hemi but thats not nearly in the same price range.

But anyways, I look forward to joining the SRT community, hopefully soon! Anyone want to buy a truck? LOL

I went to a small car meet at a local place last night and got hate... i cried but then i felt better... anyway someone yelled out ur car is slow as im leaving... hurt my feelings so bad.... he waited until i left to tell me though... strange.. he was probably driving a civic or something really fast like that.

 

i get the same thing man me and my roomate took my car to a local meet up on friday night and as we came up in the parknig long some guy was like "hey look its a neon!!" so after i parked and got my coat on i headed over to there area and the guy that said it was leaning on a ls1 camaro. i looked at his car then came up to him... so this is yours? and hes like yeah. so i asked down to run my neon? and hes like i cant.. i have to many speeding tickets... so i was like yeah thats what i thought and left that area.

 

I picked up my '05 SRT last Saturday and let me tell you it was the best purchase I have ever made. I've always loved the SRT since the first time I saw it's review on Motor Week way back in late 2002, man I was a wee youngin', but I still can't believe I actually own one now. If you don't buy it because of it's kick *** Tuning factor buy it because the ****er is a blast to drive... it's like being pushed by angels, seriously. So let everyone hate, all the people in my Criminal Investigations Division at work hated when I told them I was buying "another neon," but they started to turn around when they saw the car and then actually rode in it. Again let them hate for they are either ignorant or jealous... just smile, hop in the cockpit, and realize you are one of the enlightened.

 

a friend of mine has that redline and keeps running his mouth but when i show up he chickens out s o i told him that this weekend we can goto track and i will pay for both of us and i will pay for the gass so there is no reason for him to back out .. and still waiting for him to return the answer. i really think hes bitching out

 

Redline = ownt thats he has a reason to be chickening out.... cant blame em
