Hated SRT-4 Owners?
Nice post...
BTW, if anyone knows someone wanting a truck point them in my direction. I need to get this truck sold so I can get my car! Really starting to get anxious now.

After all that, I think you guys have finally gotten down to what it's all about; You either love it cause it's a Neon or you hate it cause it's a Neon.
I choose to love it because its a Neon. People who hate it aren't necessarily wrong but I think they are looking at it in the wrong light. The way I see it is the way I believe the factory intended it to be. It's the best bang for the buck you can buy. It's not a new age Barracuda or Mustang. It's not supposed to be. If anything, it is more like the Road Runner. That is what the Road Runner was (cheap speed) and it became an ICON that made the old Chrycorp what it has become famous for. I'm sure a lot of Non- Mopar types hated on the Road Runner too because it was just a light, simple no frills Satellite with a powerful engine. Yes, back in it's day, the 68 Road Runner was quite light, big as they were. They weren't racy looking, they were based on the most plain jane car in the line up. They were not nice cars. All they had was the monster engine. That was the formula for success. The Neon SRT-4 is the modern version of the Road Runner. It just happens to look a little ricey because of the modern day market it competes in, which is ok with me. I'm glad that it is competativeley styled and that it kills in it's segment. That just tells me that the factory is in tune with what is going on. That is exactly what the Road Runner did and it was hated upon by GTO, 442 and Mustang Buyers that believed you should spend a lot more money and have a special looking car to go fast. Chrysler proved them wrong and they hated it. I Loved the Road Runner and I love the Neon SRT-4.

If you added SRT performance to the Stratus, it'd be a $30K car which may or may not work I don't know. I don't disagree though, I personally love the look of the Stratus coupes and basically it was a toss up between a Strat R/T or Ram in 2002.
What I would LOVE from Dodge is a RWD V8 coupe. Or atleast a coupe with SRT performance that is affordable, I think they could have made the Stratus coupe a big hit if it was a Mustang/Camaro type car vs FWD V6 with marginal performance. It seems to me theres demand for that type of vehicle but Dodge just wont give it to us. Everything with any performance is a 4 door. Nice 4 doors, but 4 doors nonetheless, and even those cars lack a manual transmission which sucks IMO.
I do think theres reason to be glad about the whole SRT lineup though. There's something with good styling, performance and price for everyone on every level.

They could do a SRT6 Stratus for under $26k..... but yanno you are right.... they should have made the Stratus RWD...even if they didnt slap a V8 in it.... a RWD Stratus would have been a lot better.
Well they obviously wanted to keep it cheap for one. Also the Neon turbo is a full frontal assault in the import tuner market. The targeted crowd are into smaller cars. I wouldn't doubt that a mid level SRT-6 idea car has been batted around by the corp. Maybe they felt the market wasn't strong enough. It does appear there is a market for street rally cars such as the Evo and Wrx. An awd turbo Stratus might fill that bill. The old Chrycorp had the Rapid Transit System at one time which was basically a hotrodded version of every model in the lineup. I don't really see why they could not do that now. There have been R/T versions of many cars, but that moniker has been used a little too liberally IMO.

No, we're talking smaller cars, and the Charger isnt even remotely close to what we're discussing.
I want a coupe and I'm willing to bet a lot more people would have bought a RWD Stratus Coupe then a FWD. Not to mention a SRT-6 model Stratus would have been BAD A$$.
I wonder if the Crossfire is FWD or not...

Yeah the misfire is rwd but it is not domestic and it is very expensive being mostly Mercedes. Cars like that are cool but being very expensive and totally impracticle and not all that fast, I don't know who they are trying to sell them to. I don't really like the car. I think what DR is looking for is a Dodge version of the Supercharged Pontiac Gran Prix. My sis has one of those. They're nice. Very smooth and decievingly fast. Not as quick as my Neon, but quick by any normal car standard. Of course if Dodge did build one, I'd had better be faster than the Ponty.
You would be referring to the GTP Grand Prix. I'm looking for a Dodge version of that yes, but in a 2DR Coupe version.
They only made the 2DR coupe version of the GTP for like a year or two. Still, I wonder if I could cram that big ol 3800 into my Stratus
