what is the odds of a SRT-4 with a good driver outrunnin a v-8 mustang GT.I was just wondering bc i heard someone say they they would dust the SRT and i had my doubt's.but hell it's a 4 banger against an 8,sound like the srt is the underdog but i dunno????

 

I already showed my tailights to 2 of those glorified Pinto's...and a 96 or 97 Z-28. They are not as fast as the Mustang fans like to think they are. I'm sure there are alot of people on this board that have beat Mustang's...there are probably some people here that can beat Cobras.

The Mustang GT's and 5.0's are no problem at all for the SRT-4. The only ones that may give them trouble is the Cobras and then it depends on what year it is as to wether or not it will.

 

speaking from experience... I have three different friends with 3 different mustangs (an older 5.0 GT, a 96 2 valve 4.6 GT, and an 01 4 valve 4.6 Cobra)... here's how the run down goes for me...

the 5.0 liter... not a problem... you should win...
the 2V 4.6... I hate to say it (as many times stated, I like the mustang)... if you don't beat him (all things being fair of course) then sell your car
the cobra... we finally raced a few weekends ago from a light... both had mediocre launches... he beat me, but not as bad as I had thought... I hung onto his tail end and never let him show me his taillights... we are both moderate drivers... no means race car drivers...

point is... factory mustangs shouldn't be too much of a problem... Cobra's, high end Saleens, and high end Roush's are a different story... remember, a lot is driver related... all the mustangs I have raced have pulled hard at first, then died off as the SRT's turbo kicks in...

 

I am so surprised!!!! A mustang vs. a Srt-4 debate. Never seen these before. Just tell your GT(Grand Turd) buddy that there are many such discussions and all of the ones that end in a race = dissapointed Grand Turd drivers. He should put his money where his mouth is and race you. If you have any skill (or even if not) he will see your taillights walking away from him. I LOVE beating those cocky Mustang drivers. They hate my sticker when they read it.

i got a 5.0 that anyone is welcome to race

just because you see a mustang, don't assume that you can beat it. stock 5.0's run about a 14.2, but believe me that it doesn't take much to put them in the 12's....

 

We are assumeing stock vs. stock, right? Stock, SRT wins in a heartbeat - and I have seen/beaten many many gt's.

Plus - It's pretty darn easy to get an srt into the 12's too.[sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]

In all fairness to the Ponies, Doof - I don't see any newer stangs on the list.

You know my stand, I'm on the SRT-4 side, but the list doesn't say anything meaningful.

ECXEPT for the fact that there are a lot of drivers of old stock mustangs that will be pissed when they're beat.
