RE: PONTIAC Grand Am VS NEON
i hate gtps, there is so much more than u can buy for the money than a heavy supercharged car, but that is just me, there is a guy that thinks he is a bad *** with his grand prix in my town.... one day he did a burnout infront of my store....(not even a good one) so as he was leaving i just kinda laughed, with his 15.0written in the back window( from the races the day before) he came in the next day and was talking **** about my car.....all i had to do is say mine is in the 13s, and he did not believe me, of course
about a week later, i pulled up next to him at the light (still with the 15.0 in the back window) he reved, i reved and blew off, and just smiled as the light turned, i gave him a car, and won by about two....... cocky kids dont have a clue sometimes....

I own a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP w/ the Competition Group package....goes for about 31-32k brand new......15 flat in the quarter....
For the same price AND size of vehicle......the only thing you can buy that's comparable on the market is the Charger/300C....and those would need the Hemi to be comparably priced/performance...
And the 3800 block is really, really, really easy to mod.....for about $1800 I can run mid to possibly low 13's.....
Oh, and the GTP's replacement....the G8.....362hp with a 6spd manual....RWD....

^ Or you could buy a 350Z for 22, and run 13's. But that wasn't the point.....[8D]
DevilsReject- I agree mostly. I had an '05 GTP (not the Comp package), and hated it. But they definitely have the potential to hurt some feelings. The last ime I had my Z at the track, I got beat by an older GTP Coupe 3 times, lol. All he had was a cai, exhaust, tune, and some grippy tires. He was running consistent 9.10-.15 to my 9.20's. My times were hampered by mytires. I was turning 2.20 60 ft times, lol. I was trapping 3mph higher than him, though.
As for the price deal, I much agree. The only other car I can think of is the Infinity G35 Sedan which is cpable of high 13's, low 14's depending on which gen it is. That's of course only factoring new price. Taking into account you can buy a used E55 AMG for 34-35K, all bet are off then. But you make a good point. I'm just persoanlly not a fwd guy, so my GTP never really won me over.

The point was that dtjacktensaid there was so much more for the money than a heavy supercharged car, he was correct. DevilsReject likes his big heavy GTP, and that's cool too.

And again, he's still wrong, because at the end of the day, show me whats available thats a full size sedan that is comparable for the money.....
I bought my 04 Comp G GTP for $21,500......I'm not a fan of FWD, but I couldnt find a better deal on a full size sedan at the time....because all the 5.7L LX sedans were still selling for way more then they are worth....

I know, I was just saying.
DevilsReject- I hear ya on the Hemi LX cars. No offense to any of their owners on here, but after driving a few of them, I must say they disappointed me. They're too pricey, and they really don't feel like 340hp to me. Added in to the ponderous steering, and truck like seating position, it just makes for a not-so-desireable car. But that's just my opinion. Apparently some people like them, because I see them all over the place......

I dont consider 3470lbs all that heavy....but hey, that's still lighter then most full size sedans.....and still only about 500lbs heavier then an SRT-4...which is a pocket rocket anyhow....

He could get a used Vette for that, He could get a WRX, an SRT-6, or if you want a sedan a used BMW M5, or something similar.

RE: PONTIAC Grand Am VS NEON
^^^ EXACTLY, i can get a TON of used cars that are much faster than a heavy gtp, not same class.... i can get a bug eye wrx for about 20 MODDED..... and much much faster..... that is all i am saying, my neon is light and runs in the thirteens, and it is notasrt4 i could get a used srt 4 for about ten, and with 12000 in mods???? u do that math, i am just saying for what u pay forthe gtp (in my opinion) is overpriced for the stock numbers it produces.....
