srt-4 vs camaro Z28
just beacuse its looks stock doesnt mean it is. ive seen a stage 2(ecu/injectors throttle body)LT1 with some 2 1/2 flows run 13.0 at like 120. and if its kicking sideways at 80mph thats deffintly not stock or he has some ghetto *** bald tires
With a can of spray paint and a few little tricks I can make my 440 look 100% stock and the 426 Hemi in my dad's Barracuda almost looks 100% bone stock, yet it dynoed at 630 horsepower. You better really know what to look for and listen for as well, some mods you cannot see can at least be heard.
The goofy times that get me are ones like 9.5 @ 89 MPH. Like when a top fuel dragster or funnycar breaks on a run. I can understand the 15.3 @ 121 if they had problems then hammered it, but the 13.0 second run at 120 must have been a similar situation where they had traction trouble or something.
like said..ill show you an awful driver....a car that can hit 120mph with such a TERRIBLE launch...if you rolled it out for the first 2 gears to get it moving and then hammered it, it should still run at least 13s...120 should be almost in the 10 second range....
I had an LT1 powered '96 Camaro SS with all the SLP options, ported heads, headers, LT4 cam, and my best time on 17" street tires was 13.4 seconds @ 103 mph. Couldn't hook it up. I think the best 60 ft. on those tires was around 2.4 seconds. I fried the tires so much I could have worked at KFC. That was launching at right near 3,000 rpms. Any lower and it bogged big time. Drag radials or slicks would have had me solidly in the high 12s if the rear end held up, a major weak spot on 4th gen Camaros with good traction. Before the mods it ran 13.7, 13.8. So, I guess with some of the times our fellow forum members are pulling in their SRT-4s, stock vs. stock, it has the potential to be a pretty good race. It definitely will depend on the drivers' ability. LS1s are a different story. Guys were running low 13s and high 12s with a few bolt-ons.
