Security Alarm going off. NEED HELP!!!!
I just bought this '99 Ram 2500. The PO did not give me a key fob. I locked the doors last night and opened with the key this morning. The security alarm went off (lights flashing and horn honking). The engine won't start anymore. Does anyone have a way I can disable the system without the key fob?

I have read a lot of threads about this issue on this site. Unfortunately, you have a good one on your hands. Please post the outcome as it will help others. I am not going to get into details but I can tell you when i purchased a new 2001 it came with an alarm. To this day i do not know if it is factory or not although the clicker has the 5 pointed star Chrysler logo on it. It came with two clickers, a few years later i lost one, went to dealer and they had a hard time ordering me another, but they did. Fast forward to today, i have one clicker left, last year i went to 3, three dealers and none could help me with getting another clicker. My remaining one still works but i would be in your situation if it ever gets lost/damaged. I gave up and not worried about it for now. I have permanently turned off the alarm via valet switch on the dash bezel. I usually need my clicker only when i disconnect the battery as it activates the alarm when i reconnect it. Good luck.

My security system is from the factory. No valet switch unfortunately. I have an appointment at my local dealership on Monday. Now I just have to get the truck there. I was hoping to not have to go this route, but I see no other options at this point. I've chased wires, fuses, relays, etc. Can't seem to find what is setting the alarm off. I'll post again to update on what the dealership says.

The factory alarm system is hard wired through the Central Timer Module or CTM, and when it fails it has to be replaced. Unfortunately it can't be repaired. I'm pretty sure they are discontinued by Dodge for the 2nd gens but they are on ebay and craigslist. Here are a couple sections from the 2001 Dodge Ram Repair manual.
• Vehicle Theft Alarm - The high-line/premium CTM provides control of the optional Vehicle Theft Alarm features, including support for the central locking/unlocking mode.
All versions of the CTM for this model are serviced only as a complete unit. Many of the electronic features in the vehicle controlled or supported by the high-line or premium versions of the CTM are programmable using the DRBIIIt scan tool. In addition, the high-line/premium CTM software is Flash compatible, which means it can be reprogrammed using Flash reprogramming procedures. However, if any of the CTM hardware components are damaged or faulty, the entire CTM unit must be replaced. The base version of the CTM and the hard wired inputs or outputs of all CTM versions can be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and methods; however, for diagnosis of the high-line or premium versions of the CTM or the CCD data bus, the use of a DRBIIIt scan tool is required. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
The three that show up in the 2001 Dodge Ram Parts manual are,
MODULE, Timing and Control
56020157AC 1 without Keyless Entry (Integrated)
56045448AB 1 With Keyless Entry (Integrated)
56045999AB 1 With Heated Seats
Ebay has listing for several years of Ram CTM's.
