Well just wanted to start off by saying if your going to do anything right you got to do it yourself because I want to get my brakes done on my truck and about two days later I heard a really bad grinding noise and I took a look at it come to find out one of the brake caliper pins was completely thread it out and now I got to replace the steering knuckle but I’ve called around to all the basic parts stores like AutoZone and Advance Auto and they told me they don’t have this part for this truck then I have to call the Dodge dealership to ask about this part and they say it’s gonna be $700 just to replace the steering knuckle and I told him I said I can’t pay $700 for that and I asked why I can’t find it any where due to it being a specialty parts Can anybody tell me where to find one

96 dodge slt 4wd 5.2l and yes i tried the oversized pins first thing I did after I found the problem but is just as loose and it’s on the passenger side. Plus I’ve tried helicoils before and they just can’t be trusted in my opinion and I’ve looked on eBay and the only ones it shows is 97and newer model dakotas with the exception of oem knuckle which is $700 and all the ones at my local yards is 2wd which isn’t interchangeable.

Because mechanics and some diy people but not all don’t read the torque specs( which is VERY important no matter the job ) of the brake calipers by the way is only 18 ft-lbs. they think tightening down ahh this feels then slip goes the wrench now the threads are stripped out and cover up the job and still expect you to pay them because you think he’s got your safety in mind but no. And now this is where I’m at looking for a knuckle that no part store sells and factory has it but wants an arm and a leg and junk yard don’t have the trucks like mine. HAPPY FACE
