Default 96 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 fuel pump wiring isssues

Was only getting 10 psi at fuel rail and then checked right at pump and was only getting 10 psi. Changed pump and same issue.replaced relays and wired straight from battery. 50 psi at pump and 50 at rail.I don’t know if it’s the wiring back to the distribution box. Don’t know where to go from here my next point of attack. was going to pull apart distribution box and rewire back to pump ?not sure if I’m going In the wrong direction. Fuel level seems to work fine

Welcome to DF!

You can download the service manual for your truck from here. Wiring diagrams are in section 8W.

Check what voltage you are getting to the pump via the normal circuit. My bet is, it's low. Might be as simple as a bad relay. (swap it with the horn relay, see if anything changes.)

Moving this to second gen ram section for ya. Welcome to DF!

I believe I am dealing with the same issue on a 5.2. Wasn't getting fuel so i replaced the pump and same issue. Can you tell me how you wire the pump straight to the battery to confirm the pump is ok?

In the PDC, (under the hood.) Jump pin 30, to pin 86 in the fuel pump relay socket. Pump should run.

Ok, if the pump runs when you jump the relay, it's getting power. Test for power at the coil next. Same drill, it only has power for a few seconds after initial key on.

I would invest either in a test light or power probe. I would lean to the power probe. This way you are able to either add power to a circuit or ground to complete a circuit.

I'm also having some issues, and there's no wires on my fuel pump relay location, do you know what colors I should have on the coil and line and load side?

You should start your own thread. Tell us what you are driving, and what the issue is, and what troubleshooting you have done.

Does your fuel pump have the connection adapter? These are known for having issues. Check the pins and see if any are loose, try wiggling them then check the pressure again and see if it goes up. It’ll be right at the top of the fuel pump where it connects to wiring from the truck.

Attached wiring diagram for fuel pump and relay Incase anyone needs them.
