Highest Mileage Hellcat

With 175,000 miles, this is likely the highest mileage Hellcat in the world. It will now live on as the ultimate burnout machine.

Car collectors drool over low-mileage garage queens. However, if you have something as cool as a Challenger Hellcat you want to drive it. Driving is what these cars are all about. The original owner of this 2016 Challenger Hellcat undoubtedly understood that cars are meant to be driven and not babied. With 175,000 miles showing on the odometer, this is likely the highest mileage Hellcat on the planet. And while the interior may be a bit tatty this car still has plenty of thrills to offer.

This week’s “Wicked Wednesday” presented by Nitto features this extremely high mileage Hellcat. It was recently purchased at an auction and then it was scooped up by Dr. Parker Mitchell. Mitchell purchased the car to turn it into the ultimate burnout and drift machine. He got it just in time for him to take it to the Cleetus and Cars event held at the Houston Raceway Park. Mitchell shares this well-worn Hellcat with us in a video posted to his Teeth & Turbos YouTube channel.

Picking Up the Hellcat

Mitchell picks up the car from a used car dealer who tells him he got it from a CarMax auction. The dealer took it to Dodge who told him they never saw a Hellcat with anything close to that sort of mileage. The car certainly has some interior bits that have seen better days. The center arm rest looks like a dry lakebed. However, no one buys a Hellcat for the center arm rest. The car is all about the engine and that seems to be running fairly well. There are a couple of engine codes being thrown but nothing that seems catastrophic. On the initial test drive the car seems to pull pretty hard but is perhaps down a bit on power.

A Closer Look

One reason for the perceived drop in power could be the O2 sensors as they are throwing codes. There is also a noticeable lack of supercharger whine. That whine is the Hellcat calling card so when that is not there it is pretty obvious that the supercharger might need some attention. But first up is getting some fresh oil in her. The old oil looks like, well it looks like old oil and it likely is overdue for a change so that is going to be step one.

Burnout Time

Can a Hellcat with 175,000 miles still do a burnout? Hell, yeah it can still do a burnout. The car easily lights up the rear tires and puts on a heck of a smoke show. However, after the soke clears, and the bright sun hits the car you can notice the paint on the front bumper doesn’t quite match the paint on the fender. This car has been in three reported accidents. Two of those accidents were a result of colliding with a parked car. Hmmm. Maybe the previous owner liked to practice drifting on the street.

Next Steps

The rear brakes are disconnected as a hydraulic handbrake is going to be installed in this Hellcat. Then some old steel wheels are going to be installed out back. The wheels and tires were taken off an old Charger police car. Then it is off to Cleetus and Cars to strut her stuff. She may not be perfect, but she can sure perform. If this car has taught us anything it is that these Hellcats have a lot of fun miles built in. Checkout the video below to see for yourself what the highest mileage Hellcat in the world is still capable of.
