My Official Solid Axle Swap Thread (The Discussion Thread)
I was waiting for the upper link and upper and lower coil mounts to get here. I already started tacking the axle side upper link mount to the axle, and I was about to tack the frame side down when my welder started acting up.
I think the wire feed motor is on its way out in my welder. Either its the motor or the speed controller, but the welder can't seem to hold a constant wire speed, which makes it near impossible to weld with it.
It really sucks cause everything I have to do right now with this project involves welding!

Actually, I honestly don't know much about welders.
But I don't think its a bad tip. I took the welder apart, and it looks like the speed controller is bad. I took all the gears out of the gearbox, pulled all the wire out of the gun, and ran the motor with no load what so ever and it still jumps around.

I've been using my little 110 volt Craftsman Professional wire feed welder to tack all the mounts in place. I was going to rent a 250 amp engine driven welder for a day to secure all the mount's in place once they were all tacked down.
I haven't priced out parts yet. I just finally found out today what the problem was.

Alright, well I got my welder fixed last night, so it was back to work today! Also, now that I'm a moderator, and have the ability to reorganize my thread when I'm done, I started the rear axle write up so ya'll can see what progress I've made there. I'll reorganize it when I finish.
