I want to see how it rides before I cut up my first gen. You use the POR-15 yet? Maybe I missed it in a previous post.

No, I haven't used it yet. I decided to do all the lining up and welding first, and then paint later. That way I won't have to grind off any paint for any reason.

Come on do the real work. Get started on welding it up!!!!!!

I forgot to ask. How was it to use the plasma cutter? I've only done small jobs with it.

Lol, the welding is coming up soon enough!! I can only tack the mounts to the frame with my welder... its too small to do the full job. I'm going to rent a big 200+ amp welder to secure all the mounts.

The plasma cutter is awesome!! It cut through that steel like butter! It took longer to prep the metal to be cut than it did to actually cut it. The only thing that sucks is you can't aim it into the frame without destroying the frame (at least I don't know how to), so you have to cut the mounts off and then grind out the remaining peices.

Sounds like a great buildup. I'm planning something similar for my '87. Subscribed!

Well everyone, I have some really bad news. The radius arm suspension is not going to work. I don't know how I overlooked this, but the distance between the radius arm mounts is about 4 inches narrower than the distance between the frame rails. I don't know if there is a difference between the '76 and '79 F150s, since I've seen this swap work twice with the '79 F150/Bronco parts, but I'm calling it quits on the radius arm suspension. Time to go to plan B and design and build a 3 link.

LOL! Dang that sucks. Is there any way to build up some kind of cross member/ bracket to make it bolt up.
