Not only will the tie rod end keep it from completely retracting, the steering stops on the lower control arms will stop it from completely retracting too.

I wouldn't worry TOO much about that, although my approach would have been to retract enough to fit (or to even drop the sway bar - remove both end links, and pivot it out of the way) instead of running it past the design stops.

Yeah, I haven't really worried about it. When I saw the fluid coming out I initially thought I bought myself a R&P job but when it stopped as soon as I extended the rack it quickly occurred to me that rack wasn't intended to retract that far. And if I were to do it again I would pivot that sway bar as you point out.

Ralph, those Energy Suspension snubbers you referenced me are the correct size and shape for those cups. Don’t know about those bullet-shaped ones yet. Haven’t looked.

The bullet shaped ones bolt to the bottom of the upper control arm; there's a visible nut on the top.

I'm betting my uppers are missing because I've never noticed them before. That or the arm hides them pretty good.

I am missing my left side rear axle bumper. All that remains is the bolt. Here is a pic of the right side rear axle bumper that is still there. It's a one-bolt design. The other end clips in a hole. The bumper itself is chisel shaped. No flat spot at the tip (pix doesn't show it sadly). The hardware on this one remaining bumper is pretty crusty so it's probably not long for this Earth either. I gave ES a cursory glance and did not see this one. Found a Mopar p/n 52038682 but I believe it said it was for 1997ish and newer and not even sure it was for the axle (not to mention pricey beyond belief). Looked like maybe it was hollow. So I have more searching to do. Have not checked the FSM or parts catalog yet.

Snubber is P/N 3722996 - they do show as being current stock on a quick Google.

You may want to check its dimensions against an Energy Suspension or Prothane universal too ... ES pages 2-6-final (teamenergysuspension.com), page 10, and look at 9.9137 and 8.9102 specifically. (You'll need to use a bolt on that side that's currently just hooked).

Dang, you're a parts hound!

I like those 9.9137s. Confident they would do the job, affordable, easily available. I was able to extract some dimensions off the questions section in Amazon so I'm going to check a little later for fitment. Would think I could use the hook slot to run the second bolt thru. Just washer it up good. If not, maybe just a little carving.

I'm gonna assign a part number to Brian Laundrie and get you a job with the FBI. Who needs milk cartons!

UPDATE: Checked bolt holes on frame. 3" center to center. If the dimensions the dude on Amazon cited are true (4-9/32ish" calculated on centers) then I will have to drill one hole in the frame (figuring I can use one of the existing holes on the frame). In looking at it, I think I have enough room to get a drill in there but it will be a little tight. That or maybe I can MacGyver it with a beam clamp or sumpin.

Ralph, what exactly is getting greased? Inside of bushing? Outside? I'm curious about how grease interacts with polyurethane. Do they "get along"? Petro-based grease vs synthetic moly grease, etc..

Manufacturer likely has recommendations for what lube to use.

Probably. I was only asking Ralph cuz he has 'em. I know petro products and rubber don't always have a friendly relationship.
