I bet it's a class IV not a class V but, yes, the OP should be fine.

I tow 7k lbs with mine with no problem. (I've beefed mine up a little tho. hehe)

Actually, I had about 9 - 10k behind it a few weeks ago when my Excursion was in the shop.

well, went to advanced auto parts to get a brake controller, and 7-way plug for the trailer hook up.

it looks like i don't have a brake controller hook up under the dash. i will go tomorrow to get wire and wire the brake controller up. I did get the 7-way plug installed, and get that wired up tomorrow.

this got me to thinking, i don't think this vehicle has a factory tow package on it. i also picked up a 10x15 tranny cooler, but did not get a chance to put it on yet.

what is the easiest way to access the tranny lines on the radiator?

Did you get a proportional brake controller or just an on-off type one? If the later, take it back and get a Prodigy or some other kind that is proportional to the amount of braking you apply.

i had to get something just for this week until i can get a good one shipped.

this one is from advanced auto, hopkins. it has a couple buttons to adjust the brake force.

You don't need the reverse lights and you should be fine for one trip picking it up when it's empty. What's it weigh empty? 2,500ish lbs?

You'll be fine but watch the cross winds.

12hrs on the road and 640 miles later, i got the trailer.

the truck is giving me some concerns though. the temp gauge sat halfway between the half and 3/4 mark. so it ran a little too warm for me.....how to i get the temps down???

the tranny seemed like it got too warm as it would not hold a gear for a little bit on the interstate. i did buy a tranny cooler, i just have to put it in. will this solve that issue? are you guys using any special fluid or friction modifiers to help? shift kit? ........please help.
