Transgo makes a great shift kit for towing. It's also a great kit for basically everything.

Get a large trans cooler as that will lower the temps.

And you might need an upgrade to the radiator.

Other than that you might need to upgrade to a bigger truck.

who sells a bigger/better radiator?

how hard is the shift kit to put in?

I plan on getting an RV at the end of the year, but i was hoping i could get away with towing with the D in the mean time.

Nobody but specialized shops sell upgradeable radiators that I know of but you night just need a new one.

Depending on the shift kit, have your transmission shop put it in when they do a full service.

I'm sure you can hold off, but get a really big trans cooler and check the clutch fan. Also slow down and don't tow in Over Drive, press the tow button.

I would buy this one:

Transgo
SK®45RFE
Updgraded

www.transgo.com

Yes there will be some moderation of the valve body so have you local shop install it with a service (fluid/filters). Ensure they only use ATF+4. Have them take a look in your trans to make sure it looks good enough for a shift kit.
