Default Thinking of buying 2001 Durango RT

Looking at a 2001 Durango RT 5.9 V8 with 45,000 miles on it.
Garage kept and regular maintenance.
Looks to be in excellent condition.

I am concerned about:
Is making this vehicle (that wasnt driven very often) my daily driver going to bring up a bunch of mechanical issues? If so, what should I look out for?

Any additional info you guys could provide on this model for 2001 would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Monk

make sure the balljoint recall has been performed (if not you can get it done its not a big deal as long it gets taken care of) make sure you see maintance records on the truck and make sure they have had the transmission serviced, other than that just the normal stuff that you should check for on any used car and it SOUNDS like a great truck

Thanks for the info.
What service should the tranny have had done?
Is the ball joint recall done for free anymore?
Also, in excellent condition with 45,000 miles on it, what is a good price range? Edmunds and KBB have it between 6-8k.
This guy is asking $10,000.
Yeah, I like the RT 5.9. The body style is great.

The factory service is at 60k and not 45k so it might not have been done.

I think it's a great deal however try and get him down on the price a lil.

they should still be doing the balljoints for free, its a factory recall afaik they have to do it for you if your truck is covered, you can check the vin on the dodge website, under the 'for owners' section to see what recalls have not been performed on your truck yet

Great info, I looked up the VIN on the dodge site and two recalls were labeled incomplete, so the upper ball joint replacement was not done or the shifter column recall was not done. I assume a new owner can take it to a dodge dealer and get them done.?
Nice looking Durango gzuz. The one I am looking at is the same color. Platinum metallic silver I think?

As far as I know, all recalls go with the vehicle no matter who owns it. Now depends on the dealer if they want to do it or not but being a safety recall, they would have to do it esp. since it has never been done.

pete is correct, the saftey recalls (both of them are btw) need to be done no matter who owns the truck so take it in to the dealer and have it done after you buy it
