Well, in theory, it went flawless. Instead of using the PCU, i found them all in the bundle just under the car. However, there is no power to the purple/white..when i ran some power to it, still nothing. Clutch doesn't engage. If someone can do me a favor, please help me. Give me the location, slot number, and amps of all the fuses/relays that effect A/C

the places to check are the PDC under the hood (the fuses are labeled on the inside of the lid on a mirror image, just read) or in the fuse panel inside the drivers door, idk what is where on the 2000 model but it shouldnt be hard to figure out by reading the markings on the doors/covers to these panels

I know all the easy ones, but my question is, are there any in the "hidden" box under the dash? Thats the only place I can't see. I have checked the voltage from the PDC, number 87 has no power(this one goes to the compressor, and I assume something else tells it to send power out)..idk, Im really tired of this. I need to check the levels I guess..but I will have to defer to a garage ....which i don't have the $ for...so im screwed.

Maybe your overall volume of air flow is low?
If you are sitting in your seat with the air at max/recirculate can you feel it move your hair?

If not consider replacing the ac resistor under the glove box..$15 at auto zone.
System could be cold but not able to move enough air.

PS if the resistor is bad and you adjusted freon psi you may need to do so again.

Hey Instant Classic,

I am having a VERY similar problem and here is what I have found so far. Jumping out pin 30 and 87 at the PDC pulls the clutch in. charge is fine, fan and related relay is fine. I checked the transducer, its getting the 5volts fromt he PCM and sending back about 1.5 volts. Checked the ambient temperature sensor, its fine. I even back probed the wires from the relay and I have continuity.

If you have a schematic of the relay (via a Haynes manual) you will see that 87 is the HOT from the battery, and 30 is the other side of the relay switch which runs to the clutch. Now a relay also has a control side I believe its 86 and 85. (i could be backwards cause Im not in front of my haynes manual now. But one side is HOT when the key is ON and the fuse for that is in the cab fuse panel i believe fuse 24 or 25. Well I have power from there as well. At the relay that hot goes over to 85 and 85 has a wire that goes all the way to the PCM on the other side. What happens is when all the sensors are made (which they are in my case) then turning on the AC switch inside sends a signal to the PCM, then the PCM grounds 85 and completes the circuit which in turn pulls in a switch for 87 and 30 in the relay and makes the clutch pull in.

SO with that being said (and I have spoke to a Chrysler mechanic online at Experthelp) and we both have agreed it is possibly 1 of 3 things. 1- The PCM (which he said THAT is highly unlikely) 2-There is an evaporator fin probe under the dash attached to the evaporator), or 3-it is the climate control module. I have a 2002 Durango 4.7. Apparently the whole thing is electronic. he said the only way to test these 3 things is to go to a shop and have a diagnostic done.

He said you have to ask the mechanic these questions:

1-Does the evap sensor give a reading
2-Is the climate control module telling the PCM anything (like TURN AC ON!)
3-If all of that checks out then is the PCM sending a signal and grounding that number 85 wire to complete the ciruit.

Whichever one is not talking is probaly the bad child!

This has been very painstaking because I cannot find anything online about this particular problem! Your post is actually the closest problem to what I am experiencing.

I sent you a private message, let me know if you found out the problem or not! I am working on going to do a diagnostic here soon.

And for a little back ground history on this problem it was simply working yesterday and not working today, there was no idication that anything was about to go wrong.

SOOOOOO if anyone has had this problem before please chime in!

Default A schematic of AC clutch relay

In addition to my above post here is a relay schematic. Though I have an 02 the numbers to the pins on the relay are the same. So Instant Classic if you have no power on 87 that is because YOUR control side is not pulling in the relay switch to connect 30 and 87. Im sure your number 30 reads 12 volts.

WELL LOW AND BEHOLD!!! I take another gander at my D tonight and the only sensor I haven't tackled yet is the evaporator fin probe. I am thinking I would have to take apart the whole dash and HVAC assembly under the dash to get to it. So just to see what might be getting myself into, I lay upside doen in the reclined passenger seat, shine a flashlight up under the dash and whoa! I see two silver connector prongs sticking out of the housing as if a wire harness should be connected here. I look up under where the glove box hinge bolts into the dash and I see two wires tucked in behind, I pull them out and THERES A TWO WIRE HARNESS!!!!!

I plug it in, start my D and BAM I have A/C LOL! DUR! gotta love troubleshooting!

SO basically this was the wire harness for the evap fin probe and in all honesty I can see how someones foot can come into contact with this harness and knock it off! SO please in all your troubleshooting, if youve tried all of the above and have a problem like mine CHECK THAT WIRE HARNESS!!! lol

Good night everyone! WHEW! NOW the summer can bring it lol!
