Burning oil !!! 2001 5.9L RT
I have noticed the last couple of oil changes that I am low on oil about a quart. A couple of weeks ago I took a trip and put about 1,300 miles on the truck and noticed when I got back I was low 1.5 quarts. My truck has 160,000 miles. I have no oil leaks from looking around the engine. So I take it she is getting tired and getting some blow by. Any ideas if certain oils will minimize this? Thanks

This will affect mileage too, right? I have the same issue, adding anywhere from 1 to 2 quarts every few weeks. I get 10 mpg all day long (but I also make frequent short trips). I've looked down the TB in the past, but the butterfly design makes that a little tricky to see right, & I saw no issues.

Hey My trucks the same way. its got 140,000km, and i did the intake and the plenum, and i dont think its burning oil, there is no smoke at all, minimal, Im thinking its an actually motor problem, my valve seals or piston rings maybe, In one week, probably 500-1000km, I had noooo oil. It was right down to the bottom of the dipstick, I didnt think that it would burn that quickly so I never checked it for 4 days, and I was down 4L. Thats almost a whole oil change. If any one knows anything about why, any other reasons other than intake and plenum I would love to know. Thanks Hope you solved your problem CJYJ!!

WOW!
Only 4 days to almost empty the motor! That right there is a lot of freakin oil!
Your issue could be a bad valve guide, however if this was the issue you would have a puff of oil (blue smoke) on cold start up. If this isn't your issue then lets move on.
Pull your spark plugs and look at them for any oil fouling. Then do a compression test. If everything looks good, and you still can't figure it out I would do a Fully Synthetic Oil change. See if it eats oil the same way, if anything the extra added detergents will help you figure out what the issue is.
Replace the PCV valve.
It could be a ring issue, but I would think you would be burning oil (blue smoke) during driving.
