Default ABS Module rebuild... speedometer problems.

Found out that my Durango will not pass TX inspection since the red BRAKE light is on (due to the ABS module being bad)... so I did some research and sent it off to Module Masters to be rebuilt at a fraction of the price of a new one. While I was told I could drive with no problems without it... I discovered that I had no speedometer.

Well.. this presents a problem. I only have 1 vehicle... I have to get to work... and I would rather do so without getting a ticket.
So, I grabbed my Garmin Geko 101... a very small GPS, and it worked... but I could not see the numbers very well, especially at night.

Hmm.. what to do, what to do?
Technology exists...so what do I do? I go on the Android Market and typed in Speedometer... and presto! I'm presented with a list of speedometer apps. I tried one, it didn't work that well, but I found Ulysses Speedometer and it works VERY well... at least until I get my module back, which I will keep everyone posted on the customer service, etc.

Here are some pics:

To get the speedo to work, You need to go into the ABS module and set the vin number and the tire size to the pinion factor to make the speedo to work.

Umm... I think you must have missed the part where I sent the module off to be rebuilt... so it's not even in the Durango.

Matt
Even when I do a flash on the PCM or replace any other modules. The vin number and mileage need to be checked. Failure to do so will cause the ABS/RED brake light to come on. The tire size or pinion factor has not been set yet. Thats something you need to do with a scanner that can read the ABS module and program the vin. I use the DRB3 scanner from work to perform this task.

Got the module back today... put it on, so far (only drove like 2 miles) no ABS or BRAKE light. they listed everything they did to the module, I would list it here but I left the sheet in the truck and it's cold out there.. will keep you posted on if it comes back on, but so far, so good.

Oops.. sorry!
http://www.modulemaster.com/en/index.php
Cost me $153 (I got the new bolt kit) and part of it was FedEx shipping back. Shipping up there was an additional cost.
Once they received it, they turned it around in like 2 days. I will keep everyone posted to see if the lights return, but they have a 5 year warranty.

They even have instructions on how to take it off, and a 'Wizard' to see if the symptoms match something known to be a faulty component.

So far so good..have gone about 50 miles and no problems at all. Looked at my speed with a GPS and seems to be about +1mph @60.
