Question for you all is the Dakota Front Diff a bigger Diff? Just wondering if taking a dakota front Diff and putting in the Rango to make a stronger Front Diff or is the Diff's the same thing?
Well I got her off the trailer. Took almost all day but I got her off. Had to tear apart the rear Diff to get her to move. The rear carrier was messed up pretty bad. Did not have Spanner to get Carrier out so I took innards out and put back in the Side gears and the axles with C-Clips installed and the Hammer handle holding them in. I should have taken a picture of that. Now she is waiting for another weekend or two to put in the new to us Rear Diff. I did notice how ever that there was no spring in between the Spider gears for the LS axle. She had the clutch packs and what have you but no spring to push out ward on the spider gears. Is that normal for the 9.25 axle? The replacement axle is an open diff so I will be getting a Lunch box locker and install it. Here she is at home and off the trailer.
Well got the old Rear end taken out and here is what the Innereds look like.
It is sitting upside down. As you can see the Pinion gear is laying in a spot it is not suppose to be :-D
My new axle is in and mounted. Just have to get brakes back on, Shocks installed and the drive line installed and she will be back on the road. I can not wait.
I have changed so many rear ends on my explorers and was a little nervous about this one cause it was the Drum Brakes. Turned out the hardest part was getting the Drum Brakes apart. Was not to bad after that.
I wish I knew but that is the way I bought it. So So far I have $1,100 into it. $1,000 to buy it and $100 to buy Axle and she only has 188,000 miles on her.
