Default There is some shaking going on

Hello forum family it's been awhile. I have a intermittent brake shake only when hitting the brakes hard. In the last month or so I have replaced rotors pads and hoses on the front and drums cylinders and springs on the rear along with upper control arms and lower ball joints and had an alignment rebalanced tires and rotated . The majority of the shake went away except for very hard braking. The truck is a 2001 Durango 4x4 with the 4.7 267,000 miles the tires are maybe 4 yrs old and very little 4x4 use I have checked the front hub bearing which were replaced 4 years ago and they are still tight. When it does shake I feel it mostly in the pedal more than the steering wheel I have also changed the fluid in the front and rear diffs recently and insight to what next would be appreciated what am I overlooking lol

It's not simply the ABS kicking in is it? 2 or 4 wheel anti-lock on yours?

2 wheel abs but I don't think so I doesn't feel like abs I almost feels like the drums are egg shaped but only sometimes

Try readjusting the rears, and see if things get any better/worse.

I wouldn't discount out of round drums. Seems to be hard to find good ones anymore, the wagner ones I have now seem decent. I also had problems with raybestos police grade rotors on my charger.

When I was doing the wrench thing for a living, I would ALWAYS put new drums/rotors on the lathe, and scrape a couple thousandths off. Saved me from having to the job twice, when customers came back with a pedal pulsation.....

Sometimes even when doing that it still isn't enough. Last year I took my Durango to PA to visit family. While there I had my brother cut a brand new set of drums from AutoZone on his brake lathe at work. Within 200 miles they were pulsing again.

It's not common but I've worked on brakes that only did this under hard braking and it was drum related but not warpage. I went so far as to turn the drum outside and watch it. Messing with a black light while I tried to figure it out and I noticed a change in color. I ran my finger over it and noticed a smell of brake fluid on my finger. A wheel cylinder was just starting to seep. It had collected while it was parked. One cylinder was dragging and the other was barely seeping.

Check your wheel cylinders in back. They should be dry and maybe dusty. Any dampness means they are about to fail.
