ok well when i first got the car i bought this short shifter not sure what it was,,

but it was on ebay today, and found this

and i was curious if this will actually work...

i dont seee why it wouldnt becuz it says its a short shifter

thats not a true sts (short throw shifter) that one just the shaft is shorter, not the throw, thus making it seem like the throw is shorter but in reality it is not at all.

 

well i guess das said that.. but i dont understand then why would they be selling stock shorter shifters

i included the picture of the one i bought.. the thing i noticed mostly is the little ***** are on the same side and on stock the *** is oposite

a real short throw will move taht little ball thats towards the end of the shaft, upwards, making the throw shorter the farther the ball is up the shaft the shorter the throw, and it doesnt just slide up the shaft

 

if all you want is a shorter shaft, then it would be easier to cut yours down. you wont have to install anything.

 

well i dont just want a shorter shaft i want a real real STS im gonna go look into maddogs

 

maddogs are the best with the most reduced throw you can get for a neon... b&m also makes one with i belive only a 45% throw... cut down shifters are just that cut down shifters the acuall amount that the shifter cables move is not affected what so ever... a true sts acually makes the amount the stick moves for the cables to travel the same distance as the stock but in a shorter movement...

 

i have the hurst in my car....add some booger bushings to it and the shifting is really really short..and alot stiffer....

the one in the like was the same shifter that came in my old work car....it is a shorter throw shifter, just not as short as the hurst, b&m, or others
