oook guys, i got my new motor for the car, gotta put it in on tuesday.. i went from a dohc(sohc bottom end and dohc top end).. now iv been reading alot about power differences and i know dohc is 150 and sohc is 132.. i searched and saw alot of ppl sayin sohc is only 2-3 whp lower then the dohc... can anyone plz tell me weather am i actually goin to tell a diff when i do this swap or not. The sohc im puttin in is gunna have a true cai and prob a header, no a/c.... and one other thing, my friend just put a dohc in his car and its an atx and wants to race, i got a 5speed... who would win? he only got a cai on his... j/w
So you are sohc and your buddy has the sohc lower end with the dohc head? If you dont change the lower end with the head its not worth the swap enless your going to turbo.
no no no... ok my motor blew, i had the dohc with the sohc bottom end.. but i got a new motor and got a sohc with a sohc head.. now heee got a dohc in his car...but hee has an atx and mine is a 5 speed

Disagree. Compression loss is not as extreme as portrayed. Had a neon this way for over a year is it ran quite well, passing MD emissions and keeping with boosted cars. It was n/a with bolts ons. Not that you should build it that way. Build it right and go dohc or 2.4 dohc.
