There is a bullet connector in the batteries hot wire that is between the alternator and the battery. Those connectors can corrode inside. Do you have any voltage at the large lug on the alternator? Is there any voltage on either wire at the regulator?

If you are running a stock alternator you must supply voltage from the regulator to the field coils in the alternator to make it charge. This is how the regulator controls the alternator output.
