ok im stumped
I just replaced my fan clutch because i had alittle play in the assembly. so i installed it and everything went smoothly. I started it up and drove it around the block and it was roaring. i figured it was just because it was cold and the fluid needed time to heat up. I went to the store and the entire time it still roared big time. why is it still doing this? Thanks guys. sorry i havent been here in so long. soooo much school....

Did you by chance get a fan clutch from Autozone or something like that? It has been my experience that they try to push the "non-thermal" fan clutches and if thats what you bought, thats why it roars. The only ones I have had good luck with are dealership clutches, but I couldn't tell you why.

I can only attribute it to differences in manufacturing. I can't really explain why they are like that, but its not the first time I have heard of your problem with aftermarket fan clutches. I know the price difference is pretty extreme, but I wouldn't recommend something that I wouldn't do myself.

I just replaced the fan clutch on my truck a couple of months ago, and was having the same problem. I drove it around for a month with the roaring, because I thought it just might need time to loosen up. I went back to napa where I bought it, and the guy used my vin number to find another fan clutch that wasn't listed in his computer. The second fan clutch is working as it should.
