2001 Dakota PCM bad
Hey Guys, new here. While driving my 01 4.7l V8 Dakota it died on me and wouldn't start back up. Odometer reads "no bus" Took it in to dealer to get a diagnostic check, and they say bad pcm. Evidently oil got into the pcm and caused problem. They want $1060 to fix problem. I'm looking at
http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/Home
I get my pcm $165 free shipping.
Anybody heard of them? Also how hard is it to install a new pcm? I"m fairly mechanical but no expert.
Thanks!

Thanks
Thanks guys, very helpful. I can't believe how much they want to fix the problem, I will get it towed home and wait for pcm arrival.
Will this effect my keyless entry/alarm system? As long as my vin and mileage are correct I don't see how but my research shows some people had security/alarm issues after.

i don't believe how that can even happen. its plugged in. even if you poured oil yourself over the connectors while its plugged in i would have a hard time believing it would get int here. so if you have an oil leak lets say, the chances that the oil flys around the engine bay and magically finds its way to the pcm, then INTO the the connectors it cant happen.
you would have to notice oil on the outside on the connectors for this to have any chance of happening.....do you?
i hope i dont come off as a dick, but i just cant wrap my brain our this.
