Have you noticed that much of an increase in HP really?

In all honesty, it's a lot more responsive, and seems in general more powerful. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes on the other engines, but I think it was the missing key to my 3.9. Keep in mind I've also got a V8 t.b., jacked up "custom" intake (lol), and a magnaflow. With other mods you'll probably see more of a difference than just doing it to a stock truck. But I'm sure you'll even notice a difference with a stock truck. I really was surprised by the difference it made. To sum it up, don't expect to take the fan off of your V6 and expect it to be a V8, but for the price (free), you can't beat it.

E-fan would not increase HP; but just very little if that.. the engine just would not be getting bogged down and would stay basically consistent as far as power and get up and go.. as it takes a lot of power away to turn that fan.. not having to do that.. 'free's' up those ponies being robbed by the fan.

Yeah that's what I'm saying Jon. Adding an efan won't increase your power, but removing the other belt driven fan will free up some horses.

Well just a little update for you guys... Filled up the tank today and got 11.9 mpg out of my last tank. It works out to be about 12.5 when you factor in the tire size difference. But I guess this is mostly due to the fact that my right foot's been doing a lot of flooring. Once I start driving regular again it should get to at least 13. So yeah the mileage should go up a bit once you take the fan off.

Hey I have the 4.7 QC 2001 4X4. Does the e-fan that is stock automatically come on? Or does the A/C need to be on to work? I want to take mine off every little bit helps to improve gas mileage.

Once off will I need to make any other adjustments like a 180 tstat.

Wouldn't that suggest a 180 thermostat doesn't "help" the mod?

BTW, my e-fan fuse was blown. If you haven't heard the fan come on, I'd suggest you check the fuse before taking off the mechanical fan. Its much more convenient to change the fuse at your leisure before it becomes your only source of cooling.

The stock stat opens at 190. Now remember the stock mechanical fan never fully stops spinning it always moves some what. A 180 stat opens at 180 there for making the engine cooler. This cooler stat tho uses more fuel. Which is better for mods as you get the full potential out of them.
