Default Mark VIII fan convert

Had to cut the lower shroud out of the truck with the die grinder....PITA.....top one came out pretty easily more or less. Also took out the stock Efan, it's internally locked up. So I just have the overflow tank and washer fluid tank left blocking the radiator.

Going to cut the pigtail off the stock fan, run it to the coils of a 70 amp relay, and have the relay switch a lead directly off the battery's side post (where HID's are connected). I should probably put a flyback diode over it, too. Not sure what I'm going to do for the ground.

Did some measuring. Mounting hole to mounting hole, the Mark 8 fan is only 1/2" NARROWER than the stock fan- 25.5" to 26" for the stocker. Stocker is a 15" fan, Mark 8 is an 18".

My intended plan of mounting is to use 1.5" x 1.5" x 1/4" angle iron mounted to the Mk8 fan's stock mounting locations, same on the chassis side, get some 1/4" or 3/8" hose slot lengthwise and put on the shroud for a flexiseal against the radiator, and stack 1" x 1" x 1/8" square tubing on 1/4" bolts until desired spacing is made, shimmed with washers.

This all assuming the stock Mk8 tabs will clear the AC and transmission lines, ect. Otherwise some changes will be needed.

They are 2 speed fans. I use one on my mustang.
High is 52 to 5400cfm. Low is around 3200 I can't remember.
I do know that all mark 8 fans are different for different years. Only 2 or 3 years do the fans stay the same. Even though they look the same. They
will look the same yet have different cfm ratings.
My fan has been on there 4 yrs so I don't remember all the facts.

nope it's a 1 speed.checked it with my multimeter. Middle black and blue are internally shorted, other black to either of the other 2 is 0.8 ohms.

The single speeds were controlled by PWM from the Mk8's ECU, there were 2 physical speeds over the PWM put only 1 speed on the fan. I found a few articles on this, basically there are 2 fans (18" mk8 and 16" taurus) and 2 motors (1 spd, 2 spd), there are a bunch of combinations of the two. Very few 2 spd mk8's exist as a result of a lack of 1 spd motors, so they stuck the 2 spd taurus motor on the mk8 fans for the mk8's.

Had to practically disassemble the whole front of the truck to get the old fan out and get the new one in. Just got a mock-fit, need to measure things up and see if my mounting hypothesis will work, along with fitting the fluid bottle back over it.
