Default 2000 Dakota

I'm having problems with my 2000 Dakota 3.9 not wanting to start when it gets up to operating temp. It turns over but won't fire. After it cools it starts and runs fine. I have replaced the crank sensor. Any other suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.

Do you have any codes? You don't need a reader.

With the truck not running turn the key to RUN, then OFF, back to RUN, OFF again, and this time leave it in RUN. Any codes will display in the odometer window. It'll show PDONE when finished.

could be ignition coil, getting heated up, then working when it cools. Coil doesnt usually give a code either.

P1391 is what originally came up when my brother in law checked it. We replaced the crankshaft sensor and it's still doing the same thing. Crank but not start when hot.

I'm not sure if this motor has a cam position sensor. It's a 3.9 v6.

It's under the distributor cap. The parts store will likely list it as "pick-up coil".

I don't know what a pcm is.
I replaced the pickup coil and so far it's been running and starting fine. Thanks for the help everyone.
