Default Gross heads

What is the prefered way to clean the interior of the heads from all the gunk? They are currently off the vehicle and I just want to get the burnt oil and other sludge out of them.

Have them hot-tanked.

Easy-Off Oven cleaner works good too.

i thought the 4.7 heads are iron? Perhaps i am mistaken.

We have a spray gun that mixes a solvent with air from the compressor. We use simple green, mixed 1:1 strong with water, for washing most surfaces.

The 4.7 uses an aluminum alloy for the cylinder heads.

Simple Green eats aluminum. The military won't use it anymore.

We use it on literally everything. But it gets washed down with brake clean after.
