Help! I lost reverse
I've lost reverse in my 2001 dogde Dakota, it's the 5.9 engine the code says it's a sensor but mechanics tell me I need a rebuilt transmission big difference in price. I came home from work and parked. The next morning it wouldn't go n reverse. It trys to go n reverse n 4 low. It goes forward no problem but I have parked it not to cause anymore damage. Someone told me to try trannymech. Is that a good solution? I had the tranny serviced about 2 years ago and I don't use the truck often due to gas prices so it still has low mileage.

When i lost mine it was the overdrive an that, common problem, spring busted but its easy to replace....
i couldnt go into 2nd 3rd an no reverse .I replaced solinoid an sensors while in there an adjusted bands
Wasn't extremely difficult Sensors are there an accessable. I put another overdrive in . .Pull the pan an see what you have, look at the sensor that set code an check that accumulator spring. This was mine- busted-
Wnich sensor code do you have?

p1765 is a lost 12v reference to the TCM relay. Usually a broken wire/ground or damaged relay. With the age of the truck either are quite likely. p0753 is a shift solenoid electric failure. Possible from the same source as the first code. p1740 is an overdrive solenoid performance code. All of these are electrical codes. I would look for a broken ground or pinched harness to the transmission. I'd bet money you got an easy fix here.
