Default powder coated valve cover? $ ?

aquired an extra valve cover to play with. had been painted, but not good, and some spots of surface corrosion of the alluminum are showing w h ere the paint chipped off.

Had a guy who said, after looking at it, he would sand-blast it and send it out to be powder coated/colored any color I want... for 55 to 60 bucks total

deal or no deal?

When you say it has been painted, do you mean that you did it or someone else? I believe that it should be pretty easy for anyone to do. You can just paint it and then clearcoat it.

^this is what I would do if i were you by the way...My friend has a silver neon and painted his cover red and it looks so awesome.

Deal... $55-$60 sounds about right, I personally know someone who claimed they would do it for $50, but I never followed through with it. I say go for it.

Put some quality clearcoat, or even a transparent gelcoat over that polish-job... that would make a very attractive valve-cover and preserve it as well.

hmmm..I had heard that too...kept coming up... anyone prove this about the plastic?.. cuz here is a pic of the one I got to play with, in it's sorry condition... don't think plastic corrodes l i ke that, w h ere the paint is chipped... and this one matches up perfectly with the one in the car now. (I wasn't the one who painted it...)

Yes, you can powder-coat plastic. A couple of other guys around here on the forum do powdercoating, and I believe they were in agreement that it was possible to do depending on the plastic (the type of plastic for our valve covers will hold up to it fine).
