An example? A SRT4 engine and tranny cost less than the actual SRT4 itself??? Therefore, if you install it, it costs less???

Why are you asking to compare a stock 2.0L to a boosted 2.4L? Well, here is my story o spending less and getting more.

My last sohc neon cost me $250 running, needing a clutch. Custom clutch ran me $200. Spent about $400 in mods, repairs (timing belt broke), and a dohc head swap. With an iceman, atx tb, mopar pcm, af/x udp, header, r/t mtx and stock exhaust, I ran and beat a modded GS-T (fwd turbo) eclipse from a roll and a dig. Got him by a fender on both occassions. Stomped a mud hole in a B16 swapped hatch, and ran a 98 mustang GT (with a bad launch) loosing by two cars at 116mph. He demanded to know what I had done t keep with him. My car was running the sam times as a srt 4 for maybe $900 spent. Passed emmission and drove it daily.

i dont mean to knock neons, i love mine. but it seems like this guy was going to go through a lot of trouble swapping an engine out of a r/t or srt. which seems like a waste when you can buy an srt4 pretty cheap nowadays. i figured if he was willing to go through all that work to make his neon a little faster, he might as well just buy it already built. i myself am trying to figure out if i want to try to get my neon to run a lower time or whether its a waste of time and money. i love to go fast but this is my daily and i dont want to hurt its reliability and waste all my money at the same time. i tend to get carried away pretty quick in projects, and end up wanting more. if i go and max out my neon, i will probably regret not starting out with the srt4.

no disrespect taken...im sure everyone sees where your coming from..but its like if your gonna get an srt-4 get an sti...if your gonna get a corvette get a viper there is always going to be something better and faster...but imagine owning a 1st or 2nd gen neon with that kinda power 230whp and up..and smoking these cars that think they are the ****...spud over in the 1gen section had a badass 1st gen 2.0 built..look at dt his car is gonna be amazing..dajoker who isnt around on these forums anymore i think..was like one of the first people to swap in a srt-4 and man was that thing a badass sleeper...the point is if your doing the work and someone asks whats in it..and you can say you did it all it is, is more respect in the gearhead world..and hey if you just want a DD this is your car dont mess with it..get a RWD ftw lol

yes rwd ftw but i also have mad respect for those that have fast fwd or even awd. I mean i'm only 20 but i swear i should have been born in the 60s-70s cuz i love muscle cars the most and i get stuck in this generation. What a drag.
