What Did You Do To Your 2ND GEN RAM Today?
Today, the usual fluid checks / top offs.
But once again I had the engine oil filler cap ratchet strip... the original cap lasted about ten years, but with the OEM replacements I've been through 3 in the past five years... this last one, less than one year old.
Time to fix the problem.
I popped the top off the cap so I could unscrew the base from the rocker cover.
I made a plate from 1/8" aluminium to fit snugly between the splines in the base... it steps out wider to fit inside the ring on the underside of the top piece of the cap... total length just shorter than the internal distance when assembled.
Slide the plate into the splines, align the top of the cap so the ratchet fingers are either side of the plate, and push the cap back together, making sure the two halves click back together.
Now the cap will unscrew when I want it to... I just have to make sure I use good judgement when tightening the cap, as the ratchet is no more... but after 15yrs, I think I have a pretty good feel for it
If you have an older cap, you may want to replace the 'O' ring when doing this mod.

Noticed the brakes were working like shi!t. Bleed the fronts, couldn't find a damn wrench that would fit the rears, 10mm fit but slipped, 9mm is too small, couldn't find a standard wrench to fit....
Brakes feel a little better, truck needs rotors like BAD... Almost nothing left... Waiting on the dough...
