was going to change the water pump today but the hex nut on the back of the fan clutch is missing. So this special tool to remove this is usless. Does anyone have any suggestions?
really I am posting this for my BF, he is at a standstill.
Cannot get this thing off because it just spins due to this missing nut?
The nut should be part of the shaft that turns the fan. Need to hold the water pump pulley stationary while attempting to turn the nut. I left the belt on mine, as that will sorta hold it in place.... put a wrench on the nut, and smacked it with a hammer to get it to break loose, then it came off easy.
Well, thought maybe I could blow some air into the tire, bring along my spare tank, and cripple the truck into town.... Nope. Not gonna happen that way. Doesn't even hold air long enough for me to get to a paved road. Came back home, gonna yank it, and head off.... Such fun.

The passenger front tire on the Chevy pickup I used to have got bit by a snake, WTF!, on the sidewall, I ran it that way with tire plugs hanging out for a long time, then it finally gave.
