Checked the power steering fluid and it's full. Where's that belt you said to check at?

The fan belt that drives the water pump. Push the belt in with your finger: it shouldn't deflect more than half a inch. If it does, either the belt is stretched, or the tensioner has failed to do its job. Also inspect it for cracks, and missing ribs. Either of the latter can cause a serp belt to lost traction, even if it is tight enough.

i think i did the math once and if i turned most of the stuff on all at once things would be pulling about 90amps. now i think i read that i will fuse the amp for 40 so if it does pull that much power i may need the 136 amp alternator.

it is a bit hard to find brackets for the 100 amp alternators but they are out there.

Get a Delco one wire, 90amps at 800RPM. It has a very good regulator built into it. One wire goes to the battery +, the other goes to battery -. They are called one wires because they are sooo easy to install, I did it on my JD diesel, cuz ol Johnny wanted $250 for a reman and I got this one for $65 new.

^But who actually runs their engines at 12000rpm?

Started soaking the shock bolts on the 76 in pb blaster today. Realized that a ton of the crap that's attached to the frame is just dirt that could be blasted off with a pressure washer...

^Alternator speed will be higher thzn engine speed (smaller diameter pully on the alternator).

I bought 11 bags of mulch on sale. Parked the truck and started tearing down the engine to do the plenum, timing set, waterpump. All with the mulch still in the bed.
