First fill up since putting on the FI Airgap, and other goodies (in my Sig).
MPG got worst by 2, but this is not surprising at this point since it has run a bit going nowhere, the PCM has to learn all the new bits, and I've been testing it out with the right foot.

Until I get a wideband O2 sensor installed to know for sure, my gut feel is she's running a little rich (better than lean).

Things noted during the week that are different since the install;
  1. An occasional backfire into the intake when changing from deceleration to acceleration (even when very light on the peddle)... maybe 6 times in 350 miles of driving.
  2. Idle sometimes a little high or low, but corrects after a ~15sec.
  3. Idle drops when A/C engages, then it picks up again a few sec later.
  4. Takes less peddle to maintain RPM's when rolling off the mark.
  5. Moderately more responsive to peddle below 1600RPM.
  6. 1800RPM and above you can really tell it wants to get up and go.
  7. Peddle in at 2200RPM and it's time to strap in.
  8. Peddle response in 5th is like it was in 4th (almost feels like I could change up again).
Comments;
  • We'll see how the MPG's go this week (I'll keep out of it, promise).
  • Backfire is either carbon on a plug (new plugs going in), or incorrect wire routing (I know it's not per the TSB).
  • The FI Airgap is supposed to be not quite as good on the bottom end as stock, but I'm seeing it as slightly better.
  • Can't wait to get the headers and exhaust done, as I'm sure that's holding it back.
  • The following week I'll try a higher octane and tune.

started a build thread for it...

dunno why I'm bothering with one on this forum though since there is only like two or three other 24v diesels on this site

guess you guys can just experience it vicariously through the thread

let the 600hp+ build begin! (not like I'm really adding that much...just under a grand more into it in a few goodies...)

Replaced the drivers side hub bearing/assy. Started work on the rear brake lines, not good broke one line at the fitting on the rear diff, replaced that one. Had to stop until I get more steel line on hand just in case.

Used my Ram to move furniture to my house, then in the near future I'm gonna help a relative move all kinds of furniture.

i hooked up the amp in my 81 and man do things sound good. can barely hear the 1 bad speaker in the dash. just have to secure the amp. i also unplugged one of my electric fans since i have been using them so much lately and don't really need both of them to keep the truck cool.

Day 1-3 project: plenum gasket, water pump, cleaned throttle body, flushed coolant, cap/rotor/wires, wiper blades, sea foam, shocks, rear shock brackets.

Only broke the idle control motor

Day 4: new exhaust, 02 sensor

Almost done...
