poor truck. most of it was still there. only a few things were missing.

 

^^ not sure what gear ratio you're running but if you have 3.55's grabbing those axles would be a great, cheap upgrade. I've been hoping to score some myself

 

no need to downgrade... i have a set of 60/70 axles waiting to go in. just need to get the rest of the parts needed for them.

I had only four 1/2" welds on each spring perch, apparently that was not enough. I had to hit the brakes harder than I wanted to and broke the welds, spun the rear diff pulling out the rear DS, messing up the new yoke, taking out the cross joint. It was a temp thing until I installed the new leaf-springs. Only the second time it has been on the end of a hook. This was all my fault for cutting corners, I should have it back on the road late today but not before I burn in those perchs.

 

I put the passenger side carpet back down today... had it up to help find a leak, and let it dry out.

The leak was condensate tracking back through the firewall from the bottom of the tube outside... added a piece of bent hose to fix the problem.

I can still get water dripping in the cab if I leave the A/C blasting on high fan once the cab has cooled off... it drips from the floor vent... if I back the fan off one notch, it stops.
The initial thought was partially blocked condensate line not keeping up, but I gave it a good clean out as part of my earlier fault-finding, and there is a good flow of condensate to the outside world.
The next thought is; I recently topped off the charge (DIY) with Interdynamics Arctic Freeze Ultra Synthetic R-134a Refrigerant from AAP... since charging, the A/C has been colder than it has for many, many years (despite charging at the shop every 12 months or so)... I'm wondering if it is close to freezing, and there is so much condensate on the core (from our high humidity climate) that the high fan speed is blowing it through the vents, rather than it dripping to the bottom of the box.

 

I believe from the factory, they are welded for the full length of their contact...... Guess now we know why.

That sucks man. Hopefully not too expensive to repair though.....

 

Yep I was worried about this happening but I rolled the dice and lost,We were on our way to get the new shackles so I could put the springs in and then set the pinion angle for good and burn in those perches fully. I have all the spare parts here other than a new pinion nut, and these f'n nuts are a one time use so it appears.

 

Was the front bumper with tow hooks still there and in 1 piece?

 

the bumper i believe was there, but the tow hooks.... im not sure. im going back there on monday, to see if they have any new pickings. ill take a look. pm me if you want me to get em, or get something from it.
