Spent $43 on a gallon can of rustoleum truck bed liner, sanded and painted the bed.
It's for appearance, not protection. PO beat the ever loving hell out of the bed- countless scrapes through the paint and through the primer... Probably more rust and primer than paint at this point. Well, "truck bed liner" now I suppose.

On top of just doing my tie rod ends I had the ball joints replaced and a new U joint and Bearing for the driver side + alignment.
I also took the topper off to re weather strip it. I added some bushwacker bead rail caps and tail gate cap to prevent some rubbing that was going on between the bed, tailgate, topper and topper window.

filled the tank and drove it.
It is currently cheaper to drive than the S10, and it has A/C...
got 16mpg last fillup! $3.87/gal + 10cent discount at fred meyer for diesel.
regular unleaded at the same station was $3.97/gal and since both trucks get the same fuel economy... big one = cheaper/more comfortable to drive

^Truth^.............Our area though, I was $3.77 per gallon less .10 cents from Kroger for
diesel. I'm running about 15 mpg on the diesel. K.
Edit: Been a long 8 months, but got our hay cut today!
Edit 2: Drove the diesel about 250 miles on a run (wreck traffic, construction traffic),
hate those interstates when dealing with traffic!
