I think there is a few people now that have done the 5.7 swap. Just google and there's a few write ups on it. However this not a bolt in and out job. Lots custom wiring and some more custom metal work for mounting the motor and trans.

Austin stop and go traffic, and rarely drive more than a few miles per day. LOL. Get 14-15 when doing long trips on the highway.
Ah, ok, that makes more sense. I live in out in the sticks, drive about 7 miles one-way to work on a fairly regular basis, and my 8.0 gets right about 10mpg. (maybe 11) There are maybe three traffic lights between me, and work.
Threw a new accessory drive kit on last night. I knew the pulleys were a little long on the teeth but HOLY COW what a difference. If your tensioner is over 60k old, put on a new one. They get very weak. I must've had 150k on mine and suddenly the steering is quiet, smooth, and easier to turn.

Good to hear! My steering is to easy (like a car) so I'll be digging into why as soon as I get back to PA.
Well I spoke too soon. Went and washed the truck and still noisy. Stupid Napa pump. Guess I'll have to do that again after all. But the tensioner was still old.
