Question

Installed Hughes Plenum plate, 180* stat, new distributor cap and rotor. Hoping to do plugs and wires next week, and muffler next month. We will see....

It seemed like a good idea to change the stat while the plate was being changed. Reading thru the forums, I thought it was a good idea( or atleast an option) to go with a 180* stat if I planned on getting the SCT tuner. I havn't gotten the tuner yet, figured I would replace the muffler first, and possibly the cat.(definately the muffler). I guess I am just confused. Whatever, I am just happy the plenum issue is taken care of, and hopefully took care of the misfire problem. The stat is the least of my worries, I will switch it out when I have time.
I had a thread asking for advice, after tons of reading, just to be sure I got what I needed to change the plate. I bought all new bolts, Fel-pro gaskets...and appreciate the helpful advice. Thanks to all for all the help..it is much appreciated.

Well for one thing, you'll get worse gas mileage. And without doing a lot of other mods, all it does it help with pinging, when those mods are performed.

The gas mileage will be slightly worse, but I may also get more power(slight) out of it...doubtful, but logical. I thought the tuner would straighten out the fuel dump, by adjusting the pcm..but like I said, if it turns out to be a problem..it isn't a big deal to fix, and I'm sure I'm not the only guy to try a 180* stat...heck, I may have even read about it using the Search button...LOL, I couldn't resist.
I got a good deal on this truck, even with the issues, and my payments are low enough to play with it a bit. With the family and all, I don't have a never-ending budget, but I can indulge here and there. I am hoping to get the tuner soon.
