I run regular unleaded instead of midgrade. I set the cruise at 70 on the freeway to take advantage of the cylinder kill feature. My last trip was to Turlock and back on the 5. 18.6 mpg matches my last freeway trip. Not too bad for such a big truck. (1500 Ram Crew Cab) John

Just bought my truck, after first fill up, getting about 14.5 mixed driving. Mostly back roads and some highways, no city driving. Not too bad. I just filled up again and will one more time just to get a good average.

Now I drive with my foot on the pedal like a grandpa, but hey every gallon helps...

BTW, I must say.... I LOVE MY DAMN TRUCK!

if you compare some of the old carb setup truck to some of the newer trucks you have not really gained any. some people with 3.23 gears and thermoquad carbs have claimed to get as high as 22mpg with a 318 and never dropping below 15mpg.

and that truck had what 150-180hp?....the carb setups are no comparison to a modern fuel injected engine in efficiency and power.

ya but after all these years you would think with cylinder delete or whatever it is called you would be getting better gas mileage than a 20+ year old truck.
