Default 1/4 mile drags tonight!

So if the weather holds up im going to the track tonight with the 5 speed. Its gonna take some practice taking off but hopefully by the end of the night ill be in the low 17s or high 16s. Last time i ran my 96 black ram with lots of issues and it ran 18.04 at 76. Ill let you guys know how it goes. One question i have is what rpm should i shift at i was thinking 4800 or right before the red line. Its a 318

Power starts falling off rapidly after about 4700 RPM.... Here is a dyno chart, the light green line is the stock keg.

Try different shift points. Maybe start around 4800 then a little higher. I don't know how much the rpm drop between shifts. Sometimes it's better to go a little higher so the engine is higher in the revs in the next gear.

ok ill expirement but looking at the chart im not gonna go over 4800rpm. Also gonna try power shifting vs letting of when i shift. When i power shift the tires will chirp going into 2nd.

Got an NV3500 in there? If so, I don't think power shifting is a good plan....... of course, I wouldn't think drag racing with one is either.

He's probably not home yet. The clutch went, the rear end blew up, the brake line blew and the cat clogged during the burnout.

hahaha, I just don't think drag racing one of these trucks is the greatest plan. Unless of course it's built for it.
