Ram Body work
Great. Thanks.
I was going to PM you and saw that you were viewing this thread. Of course I have noticed that you sometimes post around 3AM.....WAY too early for me to be online!
Thanks again!
Was able to shoot clear on bed today.

This is one of the rear panels that I had to cut out and weld in replacement.

Hopefully I can sneak off from the office tomorrow to start painting rockers and inside edges of doors and shoot them with clear as well.

It did look better after clear. The blask was not as glossy as I thought it would be. And the metallic did not really show until I hit it with clear. I was getting frustrated since I was thinking it would not match the Yota, but I knoew the Yota has factory paint as it has never been repainted. But with the clear it looks like a match!
It will probably be about a week before I can sand and buff the clear, but how long should I let the clear cure before sanding?

When I was still working at a shop we would sand and buff the next day, about 12-14 hours. But, different brand paints are, well, different. Id give it at least 3-4 days. That way you know its good.
And yes, with base coat clear coat, the base/color is dull. The clear gives the shine and protection.

That made me feel a WHOLE lot better! Can't wait to get it finished.
On another note, my youngest grandson loves his Ram (he thinks it looks like mine except for being blue! And being 2 years old, he can't read yet!)

Thanks. Gotta pull it outsdie to turn it around tomorrow so I can start on cab and front end. I only have it primed. Wanted to minimize overspray and such due to my inexperience level and not try to do the whole thing at one shot. Sometimes, one has to know their limitations! I think I am going to try to hand some additional flourescent lighting in the garage as well. Couldn't hurt.
