I think they meant not to use RTV on the plenum gasket, the four dabs in the corners of the intake gasket, where they meet the valley end seals, or just about a requirement.....

got ya..that's what my SM said to do also..I see some guys don't even use cross over gaskets, just RTV or something..there's so much meat & metal I can't see not using them..but if it works so be it..

Sometimes, if you mill the block/heads..... there just isn't enough clearance between the block, and intake manifold, for the end seals to stay in there, so, they squeeze out fairly rapidly..... Chevy small blocks are notorious for that.. I don't see why mopars should be any different.

Just using a nice bead of RTV works just as well, and compresses nicely as you torque the manifold. Bit more forgiving than the hard rubber seals.

I highly suggest using the cross over gaskets. Use rtv in all 4 corners and a very thin coat on the cross overs(both sides) and around only the coolant ports. And the Hughes plate only comes with that thin metal plate gasket and a Victor Renz intake manifols gasket, which I am going to try next job as opposed to the felpro plate gasket.

And make sure the the dimples/ **** or whatever you want call them are cleaned out. Look at the NEW crossover gaskets. They have **** that need to go into the holes on the block surface.

i pulled one off a 94 at the junk yard and it looks like it was blown in 2 spots. all the intake bolts came off easily. only ran into 2 problems while removing it. the 1 head broke off one of the bolts into the a/c bracket which forced me to snap the aluminum bracket and the tube from the exhaust to the intake. had to break that one by moving the intake around a lot. now i can clean and fix one intake so that i will have almost no down time. just wish the throttle body had still been on it.
