Your Plenum Gasket Pictures -- Post Up
so was the plenum blown?
Oh yeah, sorry. Yep it was blown, I knew it before I even started. The guy came to me and said his mileage had gone to hell over the past year, no ***** when he gave it the gas and it knocked a good bit when he pushed it.
I had him order the Hughes kit before I even looked down the TB...

Bolts

How do you tell if it's been done before? If none of your manifold bolts break.

BTW, disregard in the first picture the hunks of dirt and tree ****; it had been sitting in the back of my truck for a while.
Also, part of the gasket was missing, dunno where it went. When he pulled it off, apparently it fell apart, so I pieced it back together as best I could. You can tell though, where even though the gasket is missing, where the oil was sitting along the edge and how blown out it was.

small, medium, large blow outs..notice the FI ports on the left

Went with the hughes pan & victor reinz gasket (the metal type)

The dots were to remind me each time I torqued that specific bolt

I've read that 99% of IM bolts break/snap, well I fall into that catagory. And just pulling the IM off was a test in patience. For those who plan on the DIY plenum learn from my mistakes...(I) would never use any kind of ez-out. It a total misnomer. They make a socket style bolt extractor that (I) would use in the future...With that said I didn't have a typical 'stuck' bolt..here are the pics to show ya what I'm talking about...
Normal bolt cavity on the head that accepts the IM bolt

My 'stuck' IM bolt..Barely visable

After some work on the surrounding mound...

the one the drivers side..this is the one I snapped the 'ez-out' off in

I had to drill next to the snapped ez-out to remove it

Moral of this story, I did my homework, aside from the bolt issues..the plenum repair is any easy job (for me at least, I don't want to speak for anyone) and the guys on here are great with helping & advice..As for tech advice go to "End all Be all Plenum" Thread!
