Me and a buddy of mine added a 2.5" too mine. I also added the Bilstein 5100s at the same time. Pretty simple.
I used a set of homemade compressors just the passenger side though, the driver side I got the axle to drop enough for it to go back in on its own.

Yeah honestly I was planning on just using a ratchet strap lol. But did you come across any problems when doing it?

okay as for right now all modding is put to the side. we are getting laid off here at work. luckily i saw it coming and have money saved up AND i have a new job to start next week. (lucky, i know!) but i am taking a big pay cut and won't have as much money to spend. so i want to get everything running good first.. and the more i drive my truck the more i feel like it's lacking power. if people don't see this thread i will probably make a new one.. but when i say lacking power i mean when i have the cruise control on at 65 and i come to a hill it will stay in o/d and slow down to 53 ish mph. if i give it more gas than cruise is giving it will downshift and speed up. but it takes a lot of gas (almost full throttle) to get it to downshift. then starting out on hills it will get up and go but only after prolly 3/4 throttle. it won't spin the tires when starting. it will in the rain but not on dry ground. and i know a 5.2 should be able to spin bald tires. it just feels sluggish and not as responsive as it should be. so what are the possible problems and solutions? here's what i've come up with:

1) plenum gasket causing the cat's to go bad
2) transmission - it has a 3 week old rebuilt tranny in it. maybe something wasnt done right
3) when i changed the oil when i first bought it it was black and real thick. sludge??
4) rear end/gears.
5) fuel pump/injectors are bad

i still need to change the spark plugs and wires. what else should i look into doing as far as tune-ups go? from what i've seen the plenum gasket is fairly cheap so i plan on doing that.

Blown plenum will give you poor power. As will a stretched out timing chain. If the cat is getting plugged up, that's yet another contributor.

I have all that fixed on mine, and when the truck is on cruise control, it simply does NOT like to downshift..... No clue what that's all about. I am gonna check TV cable adjustment here pretty soon.... you might want to look at that as well.

well i realize it doesnt like to down shift while on cruise control but that was just an example. if i'm just simply driving at speed and i come to a hill (when i say hill i mean any incline at all. it doesnt have to be any mountain. i'm talking regular inclines) i have to give it a whole lot of throttle to get it to downshift and stay at speed because it loses a ton of speed when its in it's highest gear.

what is the TV cable? i know it has sportscenter and mtv and discovery channel but what is it on our trucks?

as far as the plenum replacement i've read up on it and is this all i'll need? i plan on buying the parts and taking it to the shop and saying here, change this.
plenum gasget:

intake manifold gasket: pic shows the plenum gasget too. don't know why. maybe included???

i've read you should change the intake manifold bolts as well cause they're torqued to spec:

Throttle Valve Cable. Passenger side of the TB, only cable that comes in from the back. Goes down to the trans, and modulates trans pressure to control shift points. (including downshifting.) It's an easy, if crude, method of tuning your shift points a bit. Basically, you fool the trans into thinking you are giving the truck either more, or less, throttle than you really are. Keep in mind, this will affect things equally ALL THE TIME. Which may or may not be a 'bad thing™'.

so instead of it taking me half throttle to speed up at a normal rate it will only take me a fourth throttle is what you're saying? if so i should prolly wait till i change some other things first before doing that. that way if i fix my sluggish feeling then i adjusted the TV cable then the throttle will be super touchy.

did you change the plenum yourself or did you have someone do it?

I have been a mechanic since I was 15.... I am now 51. I did it myself.

TV cable only changes shifts points according to throttle position. You can adjust it so it shifts earlier, or later, depending on which way you move it. Doesn't affect the engine itself at all. At least, not directly. It would also take less throttle movement to convince the trans to downshift. Which is something I am considering... Mine runs pretty good at the moment. I still have some issues to address, but, I suspect those are going to require an engine rebuild to solve... (still have somewhat excessive oil consumption, along with fouling out of numbers 1 and 8 plugs.....) Gotta wait till I have the money for that though.... and there is a list of other things that need to happen first.
