Well there is a site I buy all my gun stuff from called cheaperthandirt.com, and they usually want like $80+ tax and shipping. I bought this one second hand for a whole $55!

That site usually has the lowest prices around on guns, accessories and ammo! You just have to know your states gun laws before buying anything.

Had a Hard time finding this bad boy. Cabelas and all local big gun dealers were back ordered and found a small local dealer that had one left after filling back orders. Smith and Wesson Military and Police AR-15 Sport. Pics will show you the goodness of the rifle!

No cover on the ejection port? Is there a bolt-forward assist? Where's the "auto" Setting?

These are all things S&W left out to cut down the price of course. This is why this model retails at $699 verses the fully loaded ones that run $1,200+!

I will mostly be just hitting the range here in SE PA. That doesn't include dragging the gun through the dirt and slop like a soldier would, hence no need for the dust cover, at least for what I intend to use it as.

No forward assist either helps cut down the price. Which is easy to manually assist the bolt with your finger. Quite easy actually, was messing with it today.

Man I wish they would allow a Auto setting! Would be sweet! At least here in Pa we are not subject to the 10 round mag laws like some states with the AR's.

Does it have the bells and whistles? Nope, but I like the fact that I can make it anything I want. In regards to upper/lower receivers, optics, rails, grip, and ect.

Plus, trying to justify to the wife in spending $1,200 on a gun right now was no gonna work!

I should get out to the range on Thursday with it.... Can't wait

Yeah, one thing I enjoyed about the military was the fun guns to play with...... (nothing like chopping down trees from 1000 meters to put a smile on your face.)

Friend of mine recently pickup up an upper receiver for around 100 bucks..... had the provision for the forward assist, but, didn't come with the parts. (he was rebuilding an AR that had been severely neglected..... all told, I think he has less than 150 into it..... lucky dog.)

Check out Centerfiresystems.com for some good deals are parts/accessories/ammo.

I couldn't imagine all the awesome guns that our armed services has to offer for our men and women. I see them on tv! Thats about as close i have gotten to them.

I though about going to route of building my own, most ppl said it could be done for less than the cost of the gun I just got. Would to have done a lot more research first, so many options out there for AR's right now.

I figure Ill play with this one for a few years, make it what I want, then maybe know enough about putting/building my next AR!

At least that is the plan!

I was just on CFS.com looking at ammo and acc. good prices!

Yup I was at a local gun show yesterday, and I think I feel in love with a police trade on glocks 22.

The guy only wanted $289 for one! New they run around $550, I'm just not sure about the caliber. It is a .40 but I can get a conversion barrel to shoot .22lr or 9mm

Hope you love your s&w m&p15 sport as much as i do mine. once you start throwing accessories on it you wont be able to stop. Paid $590 for mine brand new in the box and got about $1000 in it now and i would never get rid of it. Theres a pic on the thread couple pages back that i posted of it. I got 1000 rounds through mine and not a single jam and i have 3 30rd clips and will unloaded them as fast as i can and still no jams. 100 yards at the range with my nikon prostaff 3-9x40 scope with nikoplex reticle i get about 2 1/2 inch groups. enjoy your new gun!

Dude Sweet to know! I have heard great things about the rifle, in regards to shooting with accuracy. I am already eyeing up all the fun add ons for it! Looking for a new rail, fore grip, red dot/halo sights... the list goes on! I will go back and check it out!
